Impact-Driven Philanthropy

What if more donors had a deeper understanding of how and where their giving can make a meaningful impact?

We believe that when donors feel connected and informed, they give more.

They also give with more urgency and to causes with transformative potential.

Our Impact-Driven Philanthropy Initiative creates a unique connection point between donors with wealth to give and grassroots, community-based organizations working to strengthen our democracy and create a more fair, just society.

In 2025, we intensified our efforts to build alignment within the donor support ecosystem and explored opportunities to elevate women’s leadership in impact-driven philanthropy.

How we help more donors make an impact:

Convening

Hosting spaces for donor support organizations to align and learn with and from each other, building relationships that catalyze collaboration.

Investing

Supporting research and innovations to strengthen modern philanthropy.

Collaborating

Sharing insights from our own experience to inspire other donors to give in ways that not only align with their values, but also lead to lasting change.

By 2030, women in America will control more than $30 trillion in assets.

Collectively, women have and will continue to have a lot of power as donors. We see a huge opportunity in helping women make sense of the philanthropy landscape and the opportunities in front of them to make an impact with their wealth

Mapping The Ecosystem of Women's Philanthropy

How can we help more women donors harness their collective power to create change?

In 2025, we began a concerted effort to map where women with wealth are gathering.

The landscape is broad and diverse — from large, values-aligned networks to small, informal “kitchen table” groups that bring women together to learn about what they can do with their wealth. One thing the various groups have in common: They often direct their giving toward improving opportunities and protecting the rights of women and girls.

Research shows that securing women’s rights and creating a healthy democracy go hand in hand.

In this moment, when women are poised to control massive amounts of wealth in America, we see an exciting opportunity to help build connections and power among women with wealth. This includes women’s political and social networks that are not yet engaged in philanthropy.

We believe supporting women donors can lead to increased investment in the organizations and communities that are closest to the problems we're trying to solve, strengthening communities and our democracy.

How has being part of a giving circle impacted your approach to philanthropy?

When you’re in a group and you’re seeing that there are a lot of people committed to working together and fixing things, it definitely brings more optimism. I look at the problems of the world and think, I can’t even make a dent. But if we start to come together, maybe we can make a dent.

More Informed Giving With AI

How can AI help donors become more strategic philanthropists?

When donors have a clearer picture of how they can make an impact, their philanthropy becomes more satisfying and more strategic.

But the universe of collaborative funds and nonprofits is expansive, and doing your research can be overwhelming.

Our partners at the donor resource Giving Compass are now incorporating artificial intelligence to make research easier, more targeted, and more relevant for donors and the organizations that support them.

Its new AI agent GG, which stands for Guide to Good, helps donors learn about giving options that match their values and interests and create real impact. With GG, donors have access to more than 40,000 articles and guides, information about nearly 2 million nonprofits, metrics, and helpful guidance for how to evaluate options and make decisions.

Giving Compass research shows that GG users are 73% more likely to give locally and nearly 4 times more likely to give to smaller, grassroots nonprofits.

Our focus in 2026 and beyond

  • Diving deeper into the world of women’s philanthropy to bring women together and create opportunities for alignment and collective action
  • Strengthening alignment and catalyzing collaboration and action within the donor support ecosystem
  • Bringing new funding partners into recalibrating the ecosystem of donor support to move more resources to bottom-up led change
  • Connecting with researchers and leaders to learn how we can improve data collection, analysis, and integration in our work
